Golden Globes nominations
Before I started I wanna say that this Blog will be less frequent from December 20th til January 14th. I will post between then and most likely everyday but it won't be early in the morning and stuff.
The good thing about having to be at my job a little before 8 am is that when award nominations are annouced I can watch them live. I guess that doesn't really make up for getting up so early. I guess that doesn't really make up for it. anyway I'll list the category then say what i thinks. I don't see any major suprises except that I really thought Knocked up would get something. Not that I liked it all that much but it seems like that at least give Katherine Heigl a nomination. But she said she wouldn't cross the WGA picket line to go so maybe they were just like why waste it on her. Also how come there is no Documetary category in this award show King of Kong would be there if there was.
also Quentin Tarantino read the names Aaron Sorkin was in there. That's funny isn't it
also I'm not doing TV cause I think tv awards are kinda bullshit.
BEST PICTURE - DRAMA
American Gangster
Atonement
Eastern Promises
The Great Debaters
Michael Clayton
No Country for Old Men
There Will Be Blood
I have no clue why there are 7 nominations here. Seems really un nessary. There are only 4 that I would even take seriously. Those being There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, Michael Clayton, and American Gangster. The people on tv are taking Atonement as the front runner. I guess it is very conventinal awards movie. I don't actually wanna see looks realy sappy. I guess Atonement does have a good chance with 7 but the other 4 are the only ones it's competing against.
BEST PICTURE - COMEDY/ MUSICAL
Across the Universe
Charlie Wilson's War
Hairspray
Juno
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
I remember in the 90's when it seemed impossiable for 3 musicals to actually get in this category. Sweeney Todd will win. After that it could be either Charlie Wilson or Juno. It depends what happens with Chalie Wilson. I wouldn't even consider the other two.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama
George Clooney for Michael Clayton
Daniel Day-Lewis for There Will Be Blood
James McAvoy for Atonement
Viggo Mortensen for Eastern Promises
Denzel Washington for American Gangster
George Clooney or Daniel day-lewis maybe more so Daniel Day-Lewis. Everyone else doesn't really have a chance.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama
Cate Blanchett for Elizabeth: The Golden Age
Julie Christie for Away from Her
Jodie Foster for The Brave One
Angelina Jolie for A Mighty Heart
Keira Knightley for Atonement
Julie Christis has won like every best actress award around for Away for her but with the exception of me and movie dorks and maybe people over 40 not that many people know who she is so Maybe Keira Knightley or Angelina Jolie. Cate Blanchett has a better chance in supporting where there is more talk about her anyway.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy
Johnny Depp for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Ryan Gosling for Lars and the Real Girl
Tom Hanks for Charlie Wilson's War
Philip Seymour Hoffman for The Savages
John C. Reilly for Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
Obviously the biggest suprise really is John C. Reily. Like he has no chance but wow. I think that Johnny Depp will win ( who by the way all ready made a musical for John Waters despite what the press is saying) Tom Hanks has a chance everyone else yeah well whateva
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy
Amy Adams for Enchanted
Nikki Blonsky for Hairspray
Helena Bonham Carter for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Marion Cotillard for Môme, La
Ellen Page for Juno
Congrats to Nikki Blonsky cause she was way better then pretty much all the experienced cast in hairspray. Marion Cotillard is the safe bet. Ellen Page has a good chance as well and may even take it. Helena Bonham Carter has a chance but it's really between the other two. Also Amy Adams i won't see your movie but i think your coo.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Casey Affleck for The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Javier Bardem for No Country for Old Men
Philip Seymour Hoffman for Charlie Wilson's War
John Travolta for Hairspray
Tom Wilkinson for Michael Clayton
Casey Affleck cause everybody's had a boner for him this year for a bit but Javier Bardem is cooler and may take it. I don't really see it going to Philip Seymour Hoffman or Tom Wilkinson.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Cate Blanchett for I'm Not There
Julia Roberts for Charlie Wilson's War
Saoirse Ronan for Atonement
Amy Ryan for Gone Baby Gone
Tilda Swinton for Michael Clayton
Cate Blanchett has got cause she played a man and did a good job. Julia Roberts maybe but i seriously doubt it. Amy Ryan maybe. I like her she was in the wire
Best Director - Motion Picture
Tim Burton for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Ethan Coen, Joel Coen for No Country for Old Men
Julian Schnabel for Scaphandre et le papillon, Le
Joe Wright for Atonement
Ridley Scott for American Gangster
Julian Schnabel won't win but congrats he just won the foreign film category. I think the Coens havn't won in so long this will be there year. But Tim Burton may have a shot.
Best Animated Film
Bee Movie
Ratatouille
The Simpsons Movie
where the fuck is Persepolis it's won like everything but instead the practically unwatchable dreamworks Bee Movie. The simpson movie i expected. Rataouille will win or I will be pissed off and it does have the best chance. The simpsons may cause people are dumb.
I would do screenplay but I think the Coens will win so there you go. I think that the winners will be from a lot of different films and not just Attonement. i really doubt it will take hope that much stuff. but yeah my best movies of the year I'm gonna try and get that out. But hate to say it will be January. anyway yeah see ya later.
1 Comments:
Not really understanding your Knocked Up comments, especially considering the brilliant Heigl was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Grey's Anatomy...so that kinda makes your point a bit ....pointless.
